This article is about a way of installing a redirect then being able to retrieve it without losing your high point. Often the need arises to install a redirect, the usual method of carabiners or pulleys then running your climbing line through it is effective however it does mean having to return to it to retrieve it. A simple method which is easier shown than explained is pictured below. Do note, it's the tail of the climbing line that is secured to the clip at point 3. That's the end of the climbing line that hangs below your friction hitch.
